District Overview
Pacific Rim School District 70 strives to ‘Improve Learning for All”, which includes the ongoing growth and development of students, employees and communities.
School District 70 operates in the picturesque communities of Port Alberni, Bamfield, Ucluelet, and Tofino. The District hires year-round for teaching, exempt, and support staff in its board office and twelve schools.

Our school district is committed to the success of all learners. Over 30 percent of our students are of Aboriginal ancestry, and we actively develop learning resources to support these students, including developing curriculum using Nuuchahnulth themes, hosting annual festivals and more. School district 70 also offers French Immersion, programs for adult learners, sports academies, support for students with unique learning needs and a distributed learning environment.
Pacific Rim Community
Community Culture
Regionally, the traditional emphasis has been on natural resource-based industries such as fishing and forestry, but is now giving way to an increasing focus on tourism and eco-tourism. Recreational activities are woven into the fabric of each community and capitalize on the region’s unique and diverse natural features.
Regional Diversity
Land and sea meet on Vancouver Island’s west coast, a region renowned worldwide for its marine life, lush rainforests and scenic mountain vistas. The area has been inhabited by the Nuuchahnulth people for thousands of years and is a place of rugged natural beauty and incredible opportunities for outdoor recreation, including whale watching, surfing, beach walking, hiking, fishing, kayaking and mountain biking.
