Summer Jobs in BC Schools
May marks the beginning of the summer hiring season at British Columbia's public school districts. There are a range of opportunities in non-teaching support staff roles that are available to students and tradespeople in all parts of the province.
Both Langley and West Vancouver school districts are recruiting support staff to assist with coordinating and leading recreational and sports activities for international student programs. Hiring specifically for the roles of recreational program leaders and international program student workers, the districts are looking to recruit enthusiastic and out-going individuals interested in helping international students.
In other areas of the province, Richmond school district is hiring noon-hour supervisors and the Central Okanagan school district in Kelowna is hiring summer students to perform various maintenance and outdoor projects on school grounds.
The summer is also a time when school districts initiate maintenance and construction projects thus creating a high need for temporary skilled tradespeople. Currently, school districts in Langley, Kelowna, and Richmond are hiring for glaziers, millwrights, painters, electricians, carpenters, plumbers, HVAC technicians, welders and mechanics to complete projects over the summer.
