Insider Tips to Impress Recruiters at EdTalent 2019
Trying to impress a recruiter at a career fair can seem like a monumental task. Especially with crowds of candidates vying for the same limited attention of recruiters.
Also, with all the opportunities available across the province, how do you decide where to move? And when you move, what can you expect?
Leading up to EdTalent, Make a Future asked recruiters from BC schools to send us their best piece of advice for job seekers attending the event. Check out what they said.
Why should you teach in British Columbia?

What tips do you have to make a move?
- "We understand that moving across country is a pretty daunting task for a lot of people, and we're happy to help in any way we can. If they have questions about what the nature of the work will be, supports for teachers, or what Langley District has to offer outside of teaching, we are happy to provide information."– Langley School District #35
- If you are thinking about making the move to BC, apply for your BC teaching certification early. It can be a lengthy process collecting the required documents and we want you to be ahead of the game! Learn more about the application process at the BC Certification Branch website.
What advice did BC school districts offer for new teachers or recent graduates?

What are districts looking for?
- School districts attending Ed Talent are looking to fill all teaching positions with an emphasis on Special Education, French Immersion, and Tech Ed teachers.
- The Sunshine Coast school district will be actively recruiting elementary music teachers for its fine arts program as well as Primary and Early Intermediate teachers for general elementary postings.
- Langley school district is also looking for Math and Science, Kindergarten, English Learning Language teachers.
- The CISVA is looking for music teachers, special education teachers, and Catholic teachers who value the opportunity to integrate their faith into what they teach. CISVA is seeking to hire passionate individuals committed to the mission and vision of an integrated Catholic educational experience that truly inspires the development of the whole child.
