Filling the need for Montessori teachers in BC

More and more children are entering Montessori programs in BC public schools. With an increased demand and interest by parents to enroll their children in these programs, districts have experienced challenges in recruiting qualified teachers trained in the Montessori approach of education.

Recognizing the need for qualified Montessori teachers, the Vancouver Board of Education offers the Montessori Credential Program for educators interested in implementing the Montessori approach at the elementary level.

The Montessori approach, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, is a multidisciplinary and holistic system of education that emphasizes independence, freedom within limits, and respect for a child's natural psychological development.
