Employment Standards Act
The Employment Standards Act and Employment Standards Regulation regulate the most essential aspects of the employment relationship such as:
- hours of work
- overtime
- holidays and vacation
- leaves
- termination and severance
- minimum wages
Although the provisions outline the minimum standards of compensation and conditions of employment, the employer and employee may agree to exceed the minimum requirements of the Employment Standards Act. Once this arrangement is made, both parties are bound to the new arrangement.
