The Community

Tsawwassen is a growing, vibrant community surrounded by beaches, farmland and the ocean. It offers an exceptional lifestyle with great shopping, recreation and community amenities.

The name Tsawwassen means land facing the sea and this town lives up to that name. Boasting expansive views of the North Shore Mountains, the Gulf of Georgia and the fertile Fraser Delta, the Southpointe Academy is set in a beautiful suburban community only 40 minutes from downtown Vancouver and five minutes to the ferry terminal. Tsawwassen offers incredible access to all the Lower Mainland, and Vancouver Island has to offer

We emphasize teacher collaboration and support to create the best learning environment for students and a world-class delivery of the IB and AP programmes. Collaboration, support and purpose define our workplace culture and environment. As a K-12 single-site school, Southpointe is able to ensure a strong sense of coherence and connectedness amongst students and staff.

Lifestyle and Recreational Opportunities

Touted as “sunny Tsawwassen,” this close-knit and family-friendly community features beaches and farmlands in the middle of the Metro Vancouver region. The weather in Tsawwassen lends itself to outdoor activity and recreation opportunities. This is the sunniest part of Metro Vancouver and receives up to 40% less rain than the city of Vancouver. On sunnier days staff and students can walk or bike to the school. Being south of the Fraser gives commuters who live south of the Fraser a more relaxed commute as they do not have to contend with either bridges or tunnels—providing more time to spend with family and friends.

Residents are frequently found near to the local beaches enjoying the sand and water or riding their bikes along the dyke. This seaside community is home to Boundary Bay Regional Park, a wildlife reserve that serves as a stopover for thousands of migratory birds on the Pacific Flyway. The Park is laid beautifully across 23 km stretch consisting of Centennial Beach; walking trails with panoramic views of the ocean, and an 18 km bike trail in the scenic settings. Other Parks in the area include the Diefenbaker Park, named after Canadian Prime Minister, John Diefenbaker.

There are ample local businesses, restaurants, parks and community events that keep locals entertained all year-round.
