Our Mission Statement
We ensure deep learning engages our heart, head and hands to develop competencies vital for the success of all learners.
Our Vision
Syós:ys lets’e th’ále, lets’emó:t (See EYE yees LETS – a - thala LETS – a – mot)
– One heart, one mind, working together for a common purpose.
Why You’ll Love it Here
We provide a learning and working environment where our core values, equity, kindness, inclusion, collaboration and innovation are central to all that we do.
The Chilliwack School District has a strong culture of collaboration, allowing us to work together to build a learning community across the district and for all staff. Our professional development collaboration model is designed to promote ongoing collaboration between all staff.
The district is committed to diversity and inclusion, and encourages candidates who self-identify as Indigenous, LGBTQIA2S+, a member of a visible minority and/or a person with a disability to apply.
Supportive School Communities
Chilliwack schools foster a culture of caring and learning by promoting a compelling vision and shared values that support student engagement and success.
We cultivate a safe and inclusive environment centered on student learning, encouraging open communication and collaborative problem-solving and aim to build and sustain professional relationships that inspire trust and respect among students, staff and parents.
The district also offers the Chilliwack Mentoring Program, a joint initiative of the Chilliwack School District and the Chilliwack Teachers’ Association with a single common goal to best support new teachers as they embark on their journey of a career in teaching.
Honouring Indigenous Heritage
The Chilliwack School District is located in the heart of the Stó:lō (People of the River) territory. We honour and acknowledge our history, live in the present and look to the future to guide all teaching and learning.
It is with this vision: Syos:ys lets’e th’ale, lets’emo:t (One heart, one mind, working together for a common purpose) Stó:lō Shxweli elders teach that Halq’eme’ylem language learning will advance knowledge and understanding of Sto:lo history and heritage.
Specialized District Programs
The Chilliwack School District provides students with outstanding learning opportunities, including specialized integrated arts and technology programming at the Imagine High Integrated Arts and Technology Secondary School.
The district strives to provide equitable and accessible education for all students. To support this, we have created One Campus, which allows students to move between existing secondary campuses to pursue the programming that best engages and prepares them.
Additionally, we provide various early learning and childcare options. The district also offers early and late French Immersion programs and an International Student Program, which has hosted students from around the world for the last 20 years.
