School Overview
Tl’etinqox (Anaham) is the largest Tsilhqot’in (The People of The River) community with over 1,000 members. We strive to be a role model as a community and as a government that represents its community and people as transparently as possible.
Our community is located approximately 100 kilometres west of Williams Lake on Highway 20 between the beautiful Chilcotin River and the mountains surrounding the Chilcotin Plateau.
MISSION, VISION AND VALUES
Our goal is to honour Tsilhqot’in heritage and use this knowledge to foster language and cultural growth in our students while preparing each of them for not only their futures but the future of Tl’etinqox and the Tsilhqot’in Nation.
With a dedicated and passionate team of teachers and support staff, Tl’etinqox ?esgul provides students with daily core instruction, starting in Kindergarten 4, with classes in literacy, numeracy and Tsilhqot’in language and culture. Along with these core subject areas, we also provide each grade level with lessons meeting BC Learning Standards in science, social studies, art, physical and health education, applied design, skills and technologies, fine art and career education through the use of ability grouping, one-to-one support, small class sizes and consistent professional development and instructional support to our team members; using the latest technology along the way.

With its small class sizes, Tl’etinqox School offers teachers an opportunity to create more engagement and support for each student, and provides our team and students with the latest in technology and fibre optic Internet. Tl’etinqox School offers subsidized housing for our teachers, which includes basic furnishings and utilities.

As a member of the Tl’etinqox School you will have the opportunity to work in a close team setting and engage in Tsilhqot’in language and culture daily while receiving ongoing support and professional development throughout the year. You will also have the opportunity to work in one-to-one and small group settings as well as partaking in land-based cultural activities such as the equine program, dip netting, trapping and taking your class to our school garden to see the ducks and chickens.

Our school
Our new school was completed in 2015 and offers a safe, clean, bright and inclusive learning environment for all. With certified Tsilhqot’in language and culture instruction twice daily, small class sizes, one-to-one support, the latest education technology, research-based direct instruction, a certified in-house Speech/Language Assistant, and the support of the First Nations Education Steering Committee (FNESC) and First Nations Schools Association (FNSA) team of education professionals, Tl’etinqox School is equipped to support, and foster growth, in each and every student.
As certified by the FNSA, we pride ourselves on a commitment to lifelong learning and ensuring our staff have the highest standards for themselves and their students, with a dedication towards individual and community growth.
Working in Tl’etinqox ?esgul will provide you with a sense of community, connection and opportunity to think outside of the box and explore ways to learn both in the classroom and out on the land with your students. Our school has the latest Apple technology, smart boards in each classroom, fibre optic Internet, the opportunity to learn Tsilhqot’in language and cultural teachings with your students and the community, and an opportunity to participate in the many community and staff events throughout the year.
Our school currently offers Aboriginal Head Start, K4-Grade 10 and adult education programming; with the addition of grades 11 and 12, and the ability to offer a full BC Dogwood Diploma, by 2025. Our adult education program provides pathways towards the Adult Dogwood certificate, life and employability skills, and connections and pathways towards trades through a partnership with the Construction Foundation of BC.
Our community
We are the Tsilhqot’in-speaking people – the original inhabitants of a vast and beautiful territory that encompasses forests, grasslands, lakes and desert. For thousands of years, the Tsilhqot’in people were self-reliant and well provided for through their own ingenuity and use of the land and nature.
Tl’etinqox has local services that include a gas station, brand new daycare/childcare facility, a wellness/health-care clinic, and an adult education building that provides upgrading and Dogwood Diploma options for our adult learners and those wishing to obtain certificates and employment skills. Services such as banking, hospital, eye care, recreation facilities and shopping are all located one hour away in Williams Lake.
There is currently no cellular service in Tl’etinqox, with the nearest signal in Williams Lake; however, Telus fibre optic Internet and TV services are available to all community members and are installed at the school and bridged to several nursing and teacher units free of charge.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Our salaries are competitive with those in our neighbouring school district #27. We offer benefits that include comprehensive extended health benefits and retirement savings packages; subsidized housing, including basic furnishings and utilities; and generous classroom budgets that ensure our team members have little-to-no out-of-pocket expenses for their instruction. A relocation allowance is negotiable.

How to Apply
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
You should meet the following requirements and experience:
- Bachelor of Education
- BC Teacher Regulation Branch certification, in good standing, or proof of pending certification
- Criminal record check, with vulnerable sector clearance (within the last six months) or ability to apply and provide such documentation
- Experience with direct instruction programs preferred
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Strong morals and ethics, sound judgement and reasoning skills, along with a commitment to discretion and privacy
- Experience with adapting and modifying curriculum to meet the needs of individual students
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; as well as excellent interpersonal skills
- Commitment to personal and professional growth processes
- Strong understanding of technology use within the classroom (Apple product use and knowledge an asset)
- Proven ability to successfully work and interact with children, youth, parents/guardians, colleagues, leadership, and visitors in a professional manner
- Physically able to perform all aligned tasks
Additional Details
In terms of competencies, we are looking for people who are adaptable, flexible and able to work closely in a collaborative teaching environment, and who are willing to be video-coached.
